Frequently Asked Questions

  • We are a neurodiversity-affirming practice. That means we view differences in communication, learning, and regulation (including autism, ADHD, and GLP) as differences—not deficits. Our goal is not to make children appear more neurotypical, but to support authentic communication, connection, self-advocacy, and confidence.

  • We provide:

    • Speech and language therapy

    • Feeding therapy

    • Occupational therapy

    • AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication) support

    • Social communication groups

All services are grounded in relationship-based, play-based, and neurodiversity-affirming approaches.

  • Yes. Supporting autistic and neurodivergent children and teenagers is a core part of our practice. Our therapists are trained in neurodiversity-affirming care, AAC, and approaches that reduce masking and prioritize emotional safety.

  • Yes, we support AAC and total communication. Research consistently shows that AAC supports and enhances spoken language—it does not replace it. AAC gives children access to communication right now, reducing frustration and supporting autonomy.

  • Neurodiversity-affirming therapy means we:

    • Do not force eye contact, compliance, or “calm body/hands.”

    • Follow the child’s interests and regulation needs

    • Use play, connection, and intrinsic motivation

    • Teach self-advocacy and boundary setting

    • Honor all forms of communication

    • Support each child’s sensory needs and regulation

    • We do not force your child to sit in a room or at a table, we move with them

    • We build on your child’s strengths and interests. We celebrate and empower how their brain is designed and how they see the world!

  • Private pay allows us to:

    • Offer longer, more individualized sessions

    • Practice neurodiversity-affirming care without restrictive goals. (most insurance companies do not allow goals for gestalt language processing, sensory processing, or feeding).

    • Invest in ongoing therapist education and mentorship

    • Provide high-quality care that exceeds industry minimum standards

  • That’s okay — many families start there. We’re happy to help you talk through concerns, identify priorities, and determine what type of support may be most helpful.

If we aren’t the best fit for you, we will refer you to someone who is.

    Parent of an autistic toddler/GLP

  • I cannot say enough good things about Rachel! My son has been working with her for a few months now and has made incredible progress. Rachel does a great job of explaining her findings from the evaluation, making clear and attainable goals, and communicating with both child and parent at each session.

Parent of school-aged GLP with ADHD

    Parent of autistic toddler

  • My family loves Rachel so much ! Both of my autistic children are gestalt language processors. Finding someone who specializes in GLP has been a game changer ! Rachel not only has a gift with children that is evident but she is able to include sensory regulation techniques with communication and that is such a winning combination for my children. Both of my children have blossomed verbally and I know Rachel is excited to partner with my family on our speech journey together !
