Private-Pay Pediatric Therapy Explained: How Customized Speech, Feeding, and OT Support Your Child Best

At Rooted & Rising Therapies, we believe children deserve high-quality, individualized services that honor their strengths, interests, and developmental needs. That’s why our clinic intentionally operates as primarily a private-pay practice for speech, feeding, and occupational therapy. Private therapy allows us to offer the highest level of customization, flexibility, and family involvement—without the limitations and restrictions placed by insurance policies.

Private Therapy = True Customization

Private-pay services put you, not insurance companies, in charge of your child’s care. You choose:

  • Your provider

  • The intervention style

  • Session length and frequency

  • How involved you want to be in the therapy process

This means every session can be adapted to your child’s unique learning style, sensory needs, and developmental goals. As therapists who almost exclusively work with neurodivergent children, we know the power of sensory regulation and longer session lengths. We aren’t limited to insurance’s 30-minute rule. We have longer 45 and 60 minute options for speech, feeding, and occupational therapy.

No Barriers. No Red Tape. Just Support.

At Rooted & Rising Therapies, therapists see any child who can benefit from therapy—no qualification requirements, no standardized score cutoffs, no waiting for permission from pediatricians or school districts for your child to reach the “severely delayed” mark before someone is willing to support them.

Many families seek private-pay services because:

  • Their child didn’t qualify for school- or state-funded therapy

  • Insurance denied or limited services

  • They want more frequent, meaningful, and individualized therapy

  • They prefer a neurodiversity-affirming, child-led approach that insurance does not always support

Private-pay care means your child receives therapy based on present abilities, functional needs, and personal interests, not whether they meet an insurance company’s criteria.

Specialized, Strength-Based Speech, Feeding, and OT Services

Our speech and occupational therapists provide highly individualized therapy grounded in child-led play, co-regulation, and collaborative participation. Sessions are designed to maximize engagement, connection, and confidence by focusing on what your child loves—not what a test says they “should” be doing.

Our therapy model emphasizes:

  • Functional communication skills

  • Autonomy and self-advocacy

  • Sensory needs and emotional regulation

  • Feeding readiness and positive mealtime experiences

  • Play-based interventions that support real-life skills

  • Family involvement and hands-on learning

Private therapy ensures that every minute of your session is one-on-one attention, focused entirely on your child's goals, growth, and joy.

Your Voice Matters in Your Child’s Care

When you choose private therapy, you gain direct access to your therapist and play an active role in shaping:

  • Goals

  • Session routines

  • Strategies used at home

  • Collaboration with other providers

We know private therapy is an investment—financially, emotionally, and in the time you commit to your child’s progress. But we also know the outcomes are powerful. Increased independence, improved feeding and sensory regulation, strengthened communication, and a richer quality of life make it worth it.
